Matthias Knapp

Matthias Knapp studied Fine Arts at the Bremen University of the Arts under Professor Rolf Thiele. He is also a qualified social care worker specializing in supporting people with disabilities (Heilerziehungspfleger) and is part of the artistic leadership team at Blaumeier Atelier, where he focuses on photography and painting.

Until July 2025, he worked for ten years as an inclusion specialist at the upper secondary transition program (Werkstufe) of Inge Katz School Bremen (formerly Schulzentrum Neustadt). There, he supported students with additional support needs in grades 11 and 12 as they prepared for working life and adulthood. The Werkstufe at Inge Katz School has a strong emphasis on arts, crafts, and creative practice. Over the years, several collaborative projects emerged between the school and tanzbar_bremen, including:

• BAM – Move. Explore. Participate. (2019)

Since 2016, Matthias has worked as a freelance designer and media producer for tanzbar_bremen, creating dance films, trailers, photographs, as well as flyers and posters.
