rauschen (translation: noise / to rush)

three dancers with hands on their heads leaning against foil

Inspired by the life of Helen Keller

One’s own body as an exile: not being able to hear and not being able to see puts massive barriers between people and their environment.

Helen Keller’s life contains all the steps of an almost unimaginable development – out of complete isolation to active multilingual communication and finally utter socio-political presence.

A piece about the discovery and development of one’ s body senses as an access to the world, about boundaries and their overcoming, about perseverance, imagination, unconditional will and unusual courage to communicate – and about how much we need them to live.
